They are glad to be where they are!

Do you still remember my two buddies, Budoy & Buday?

If you happen to read my previous blog – Our Children Department Display, then you already know all about  this two characters below. Well, here they are now, playing outside at Children Department area of Hua Ho Department Store. Where they are properly installed.

Local name of kite in Brunei is "Kikik"

And here's Upin and Ipin with their friends. I put them at the other side of the fence.

Upin and Ipin at the back of the main display.
Back  in bahasa Melayu is "Belakang" .
I guess that Filipino word balakang was derived from a Malaysian word.

So, here it is. Our Children Department display. I know they are so glad to be where they are now. Because I do! ^^

I Shake Hands with the Sultan!

Month of August is approaching, though it is 5 months away, I have to collect more ideas about Brunei's one of the biggest event celebrated every year which gonna fall within that month. Upon searching and searching and searching... I stumbled upon my last year's Brunei Hari Raya Aidil Fitri experiences. It's a great experienced because for almost 2 years working in Brunei, It was the first time seeing the most important person of their land. And not just simply seeing him but greeted and shaking hands with the Sultan Hadji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darrusalam!

Okay, here's how it happened.

Last year, I shake hands with the Sultan during the final day of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri 2011 celebrations at Istana Nurul Iman.

Tarpaulin Designing | My Other Kind of Job

Aside from doing styro carving & hand drawn jobs, I am also in tarpaulin designing as my sideline job. What I loved doing it? Is the freedom of giving the full idea I have in mind and satisfying my clients with the outcome of my tarpaulin designs.

Though there's a lot of tarpaulin designers around, and their tarpaulin designs are much good than mine, still allow me to share with you some of my designs.

MY TOP FIVE FILIPINO FINE ARTISTS

I am pleased to present these 5 artists that top on my personal list as Five Favorite Filipino Fine Artists.

NO. 5:

Federico Aguilar Alcuaz (June 6, 1932 - February 2, 2011) was an award winning Filipino Painter who exhibited extensively Internationally and whose work earned him recognition both in the Philippines and abroad.

Alcuaz was conferred the title of National Artist for Visual Arts, Painting, Sculpture and Mixed Media in 2009. However, four nominees for the award other than Alcuaz became embroiled in the 2009 National Artist of the Philippines Controversy, which led the Supreme Court of the Philippines to temporarily issue a status quo order on August 25, 2009, blocking the conferment of the awards on all seven nominees - despite the fact that no objections were ever raised regarding the conferment of the award to Alcuaz and two other nominees.

Our Children Department's Display

I have been thinking what nice display I should make at our store's Children Department. In previous days,  I made Upin & Ipin concept but I'm not satisfied. Though the concept seems nice but it was in 2 dimensional. I need to think... THINK!
