Hua Ho Commemorates Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2012

Every year, Hua Ho Department Store in Brunei always commemorates the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri also known as Hari Raya Idul Fitri or Hari Raya Puasa, an important Muslim festival celebrated globally. It signifies the end of Ramadhan and the start of Syawal. It falls on August 19 this year.  Please note Muslim festivals are timed according to local sightings of various phases of the moon and thus this Hari Raya date given is approximation.
But before that day comes, Hua Ho department store’s artists of Sengkurong, Yayasan, Manggis and Tanjung Bunut branches are busy brainstorming for the concept of the display for the said occasion. Earlier as of June they were gathered for a meeting and discussed the future events. Tasks are given individually. After a thorough discussions and planning, the concepts are now ready to take in. And since the said Hua Ho Department Store’s 4 branches follow the same pattern for the display, it was stress-free doing the design in CAD and SketchUp 8 for the designer.

An arch and a mosque are the main subjects of the concept of this year’s store display. After the layout was send and approved by the store’s boss, the following days are the hardest day of preparations.

The Hari Raya Aidilfitri display was 97% made of Styrofoam and the remaining percentages are composed of hot glue, barbecue sticks, wires, bulbs and paints. Each artist focused on their stores display and since the store only have 4 artists, two months preparation was required. The arch I made for Hua Ho Yayasan branch, has the stature to 4,000.00mm laid in box with 2,430 millimeters in height. And the mosque measurements was 1,298.8mm x 891.6mm x 2,799.3mm. There was a modification done on the actual settings. But we must lay the mosque in the exact place that is easily noticed by those who pass through the escalator. We also have added other designs besides those same design we agreed. Somewhat there's a difference between the design of the arch which I made relative to what they did because I kept it nearer to the design and colors used by my colleague to the shopping guidebook he did for the store. And using bright colors like lemon yellow will destruct the main concept so I'm using pantone color number 600, instead.
The installation is supposed to start on the 25th day of July, but conforming to the store management’s request, we installed it much earlier. I was so upset when the manager suggested to move the position of the arch opposed those stated in the plan, for the pillar of the arch was nearly broken in the first attempt of its installation due to excessive amount of people willing to help. There I realized, that the number of people helping does not always justify the result of the work, but with proper technique and planning. Because the next day, we were able to arise the arch where only three of us have worked together. With the help of my colleague, the installation of the whole display was completed successfully.

What is CSH file extension?

The CSH file extension is associated with Adobe Photoshop, a professional image-editing standard and leader of the Photoshop digital imaging line, developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

CSH files are used for custom vector shapes (objects), such as logo of a sexy lady for a magazine cover and can be saved and loaded in Adobe Photoshop.

Custom shape files are saved in Photoshop/Presets/Custom Shapes folder by default.

By default, Custom Shape Tool is under the Rectangle Tool
Just right-click the icon and select Custom Shape Tool

The shape tools provide an easy way to create buttons, navigation bars, and other items used on web pages.

1. Open a new blank Photoshop document by clicking File menu at the top left corner of the screen and choose New. This brings up the New Document dialog box. Set your document as follows: 3 inches width and 3 inches height (3x3), 300 resolutions.

Glenn Jones is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand. The name GLENNZ was actually tells where it based (GLENN + NZ). He uses GLENNZ as his username on T-shirt design site Threadless.com, which is where all it started and later on he uses the latter name since it was the nickname a lot of people associates his work with.

What I loved with his works was when recognizing familiar figures, like Robocop, Angry Birds, Ronald McDonalds, some characters from Toy Story movie and TV commercials in a funny way. He is an awesome illustrator, indeed.

A Perfect Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day 2012 will be on Sunday, the 13th of May. It will be the most beautiful and appropriate moment to spend time with your mom. But before going to the store and picking up those chocolates hampers or flower bouquets at the store's window display, that are beautifully packed and ready to offer for moms on Mother's Day, maybe you need to think first on what is the perfect gift you could offer for your mom on this once a year celebration for her than that.

But what are the perfect Mother's Day gifts that suit her taste? Let me share with you my perfect Mother's Day gift ideas. Yes. It is only an idea that I'm hoping to realize.

I'll confess, I never tried dating with my mom ever since. Not because I am a bad son to her but because I don't know how. I don't know what she likes or even, I don't know if she's fond of that "dating" thing. And I'm afraid to ask (my bad). But, if I will be given a chance to spend time with her, these are my list of how my perfect Mother's Day gifts would be.

Unknown Mother | My first drawing entry  at  ratemydrawing.com

Idea #1

When I was 10 years old, I envied my classmates having their moms in our school during Mother's Day celebration. And I know that my mother is not like their moms. She showed her support in a different way not the same way like their mother's did, attending any school programs for the whole school years. And there’s a part of the program where our teacher asks us to tell something about our moms and the giving cards and hugging and kissing them... I was their left at my chair holding my personalized Mother's Day card and wishes that somehow she would come.
So, if given another chance as I've said, I will do it again this time. I want to tell the world how lucky I am to have her as my mother, that what I am today won't happen without her. And hug her tight and kiss her. And give her the most beautiful and colorful Mother's Day card I personally made.

Idea #2
When I was in high school, I almost forgot how to celebrate the occasion. What always on my mind, aside from studying is how to get involve with my peers and busy making things to win the heart of my first love.
Again, if given a chance, it is in my idea to offer my mom my involvement in everything she loves.

Idea #3
Now, I am working, gaining salary that can make my ideas come true. But still cannot do it. And it won’t work either because I am miles away from home, away from her. The thing that I wanted her to offer me before was the thing I am now longing to have… TIME.

Though I never gave her the material things or showed her the fancy places in the world, I am still proud that my UNDYING LOVE for her was I guess, is my most perfect Mother’s Day gift to her that I never mentioned as part of my ideas because it's not. It is for real.
I’ll be sending my LOVE, to the first face I saw and admired. To the woman who was there with me from the beginning of my life; to the same woman who rebuke me when I’m doing the wrong way; to my mama Nita whom I have debt for carrying me inside her bosom for 9 months and giving me this wonderful life, I will send it all to you.

Ahmm.. Okay, I’ll send chocolates and flowers, too. What else you want mom? ^^,.

How about you? What was the best gift you remember you gave to your mother? My advice... Go out with her! Have time with her while she was there with you. Treat her in a special way that she will never forget for the rest of her life. ^^,

To all the mothers in the world and to all of you who’s reading this, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to you and to your mom!!!

7 Steps Doodling Lion’s Face Out from a Rectangle

I'm having problem with my laptop last night and I have no other choice but to clean it up and reformatting the hard drive. Doing this technically consumes patience. Since I started late at night, I finished by 3 o'clock in the morning. And to avoid  getting stress, I took my drawing pad and pencil and do the doodle.

What is a doodle?
A doodle is an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes.

Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class. Other common examples of doodling are produced during long telephone conversations if a pen and paper are available.

Popular kinds of doodles include cartoon versions of teachers or companions in a school, famous TV or comic characters, invented fictional beings, landscapes, geometric shapes and patterns, textures, banners with legends, and animations made by drawing a scene sequence in various pages of a book or notebook.

Okay, wanna know some steps how to start doing a doodle? Just follow these simple seven steps on doodling a lion's face out from a rectangle.

Here's my doodle steps done with Photoshop just to make it easier for you to follow.

 1. Draw a rectangle.

2. Add a triangle at the bottom part inside the rectangle.

3. Draw a small triangle vertically-flipped pointing the big triangle and connect the two triangle with a line. Then draw a small isosceles trapezoid just above touching our small flipped triangle.

4. Now add zigzag pattern inside of the big triangle for the teeth.

5. Let’s add the lion’s eyes, ears and jaw. WOW! Our lion’s face now looks splendid.

6. Eight whiskers will make our lion’s face great!

7. Be a child, do the scribble! Create the mane. Do it around, circling our lion’s face. Add some fun on it and don’t stop until you satisfied on what you've done.

Don’t bother how it ends; the important is… you’re relieved being stress out and you are having FUN!

DONE! ^^

DID YOU KNOW:

The doodle designed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin of 1998 was the first Google Doodle, in honor of the Burning Man Festival. They made it to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed. And then there was Dennis Hwang who designed the logo for Bastille Day in 2000 and  many other Google Doodles until now.

By clicking on a Google Doodle, you will directed to a string of Google search  where you can see the results about the topic.

But my most favorite Google Doodle was the Pac-Man interactive logo, shown in May 21, 2010, in commemorating the 30th anniversary of the arcade game Pac-Man. And it was the first interactive logo, created in association with Namco.

Wanna play Pac-Man? click this link: Google Pac-Man site. You can also visit the Google Archive to see hundreds of doodles Google created.
