Charcoal Portraits from Picture

After a few minutes rest from work, I immediately took my art materials and start painting. I loved doing portraits from photo. Typically, around 11 o’clock in the evening if I get started and sometimes it takes the morning before I decided to sleep. Just like drawings from pencil, charcoal portraits are great. I’m glad my brother bought me a charcoal pencil in the Philippines, which is so hard for me to find in Brunei or maybe I just don’t know the exact place to buy, hmm... Facebook is also a great help in this business. Perhaps all…

ARTion! Against Air Pollution!

Unknown 2

Photo By ERIK DE CASTRO/REUTERS What caught my attention almost immediately was these murals done by Filipino artists on a wall in EDSA, a main highway, with air-purifying paint in Metro Manila last February 1, 2012. It was set out by the Philippine paint manufacturer of Boysen, with the support of the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority), to launched an urban renewal initiative with the use of Boysen's KNOxOUT paint.

Charcoal Portraits from Picture

February 28, 2013 Admin's Thoughts, art blog, Charcoal Portraits, drawing, featured art 6 comments

Just like drawings from pencil, charcoal portraits are great. I’m glad my brother bought me a charcoal pencil in the Philippines, which is so hard for me to find in Brunei or maybe I just don’t know the exact place to buy, hmm...

Facebook is also a great help in this business. Perhaps all kind of businesses are now connected to social media, am I right? Charcoal Portraits are also great help for the family, especially, since those earnings I gained here as an overseas contract worker ain’t enough to meet all their needs. But the most important is, aside from money-making, it has also increased my efficiency in painting, can control my patience much longer, having peace of mind and freeing myself by expressing my thoughts with every stroke of my hand. (Nah! Just expressing my thoughts here, don’t take me seriously.)

This is a pure talent for me. I did not attend art classes before, I don't even have drawing lessons or art lessons but luckily GOD gave this to me. I don’t have my own studio. I’m doing it all at my bedroom. sitting on a small box, holding my 22 in x 33 in drawing board made of plywood. Well, sometimes I felt uncomfortable but as time goes by, I'm getting used to it. Besides, I’m having FUN!

WHAT happen if humor and T-shirt printing collides? Well, AWESOME T-SHIRT PRINTS! That’s how GLENNZ TEES did to their tees and related products. GLENNZ TEES LLC is based in Austin, Texas. Their sales began in early 2008 and shipping to over 80 countries and wholesale tees to business all over the world. Glenn Jones is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand. The name GLENNZ was actually tells where it based (GLENN + NZ). He uses GLENNZ as his username on T-shirt design site Threadless.com, which is where all it started and later on he uses the latter name since it was the nickname a lot of people associates his work with.

Here are some of his works.

Wild Gummi

Angry Species

Continuous Gaming

Anger Management

Castaway

Secret Habit

Dental Care

What I loved with his works was when recognizing familiar figures, like Robocop, Angry Birds, Ronald McDonalds, some characters from Toy Story movie and TV commercials in a funny way. He is an awesome illustrator, indeed.

And the prices are evenhanded, around $15.95 to $21.95 each with a good quality.

You can visit his site, Glennz Tees-Funny Original T-shirts and Glennz Tees blog to see more of his works.

By the way, I attached this video illustrating how he did his design.

Hhhmmm... It's not the panda who hates blog which my co-blogger – Stef dela Cruz are talking about. You know, the Google Panda who hates posts with few words on it (like this one. ha ha!). The same Panda who is more than my English instructor who hates my grammar sometime, way back in college. ^^

Okay, enough for that.

But why only Panda? You may ask. How about skunks, orcas or maybe, zebras? Well, let's wait till this little boy turn another page and see those other animals in his book.

This piece is in fact an advert for French kid’s channel TiJi. The byline at the end translates as "TV at the height of their imagination".

Who is Kuriositas?

Hey! Don't look at me like that. She is not my girlfriend. Kuriositas is known for showcasing animations which might not otherwise get a broad audience on the internet – but it does have to be said that most they show are not intellectually challenging.

They are glad to be where they are!

I guess that Filipino word balakang was derived from a Malaysian word.

So, here it is. Our Children Department display. I know they are so glad to be where they are now. Because I do! ^^
